Well Intercept

Connect your wells

There are multiple cases where it is necessary to drill an intercept well

Due to the media exposure, relief well are the most well-known challenging well intercept which requires multi-disciplinary actions and team work, including proper well design, accurate directional drilling, advanced survey management solutions and ranging technologies.

Besides relief wells, there are multiple other cases where it is necessary to drill a well in order to intercept another well, such as Plug & Abandons, geothermal wells or river crossing. It might also be necessary to sidetrack from the mother wellbore, in order to re-enter open hole below an abandoned fish and recover the drilling or producing well.

Based on our expertise of drilling over 20 successful relief wells, we provide services and solutions for all intercept wells and high-end drilling operations.

Plug & Abandon

When a well reaches the end of its lifetime, it must be permanently plugged and abandoned. Such Plug & Abandonment (P&A) operations usually consist of placing several cement plugs in the wellbore to isolate the reservoir and other fluid-bearing formations.

Geothermal Wells

Geothermal well is a source of clean, reliable and affordable energy. Historically, geothermal energy has faced drilling complexity due to temperature limitations as well as consequences related to fluid circulation throughout formation or fracking.

River Crossing

Running a pipeline to connect two oil and gas processing plants can become challenging in case of the presence of a lake, or a river that needs to be crossed, while respecting regulations in place concerning ground disturbance and water contamination.

Open Hole Re-Entry

Tubing or BHA may fall into the drilling well resulting in a fish that needs to be retrieved. After several unsuccessful attempts, it might be necessary to by-pass the fish and re-enter the open hole below the fish, in order to recover the drilling well or producing well.
